After The Civivl War

During the civil war there was two general Ulysses S. Grant who was in the unions side (north) and Robert E. Lee who was in the confederacy side (south). The general who I would predict that would to be the least successful is Robert E. Lee. I say Robert E. Lee because he fail to provide his army with adequate food, clothing, or weapons.
The reconstruction us important to the U.S because after the Civil War, the nation began to re-admit the South back into the Union.
I would solve illiteracy in the form slave y putting more public school, so they can all learn to read and write. Plantation owners want illiteracy slaves because most slaves required education to became economically self-sufficient.
Many former slaves had problems getting elected into office because most slave couldn't read or write.
Churches were very important to the African American people. It was important because it was the only institution that African Americans fully had control of.
