They were four main reasons WW1 started. The cause were: Nationalism, imperialism, militarism, and the formation of a system of alliances.
In the war they're was two side the Allies and the Central Powers. The Allies had Britain, France, and Russia. The Central Powers had Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Ottoman Empire. Later during the war the U.S. joined the allies to fight on their side. Also other countries started to joined the war and became the whole world.
The actions that lead to the war was by one guy shooting someone important. This guy was Gavrilo Princip he stepped out from the crowd and shot Archduke and his wife Sophie. This was just suppose to be a war with Austria-Hungary and Serbia. From there on this war grew and brought the whole world to the war.
Trench warfare was a fighting method where opposing armies fought from and defended their area using canons, barbed wires, and ditches they dug out to protect them self. In World War 1 this warfare style was used. Trench warfare wasn't the best thing their was. Their was barely any room to more around and you would be their for years. Also you would run to your enemy shoot run back to your fort over and over again.
Europe's war at the time America was thinking that they should be getting involved because they were far away them. Also because the U.S. didn't want to get into a war.
The U.S. joined the war because they want to ensure Allied repayment of debts to the United States and to prevent the Germans from threatening U.S. shipping.
